The breadth of activity within the arts and culture world is massive. The integration of the internet and social media into our daily lives has provided brand new opportunities to promote cultural and artistic activities and events. However, lack of awareness still remains a barrier to engagement. The multitude of creative communities, sectors and platforms for promotion makes it difficult for cities (and its residents) to track and observe real-time trends with regards to cultural and artistic activity. The Creative Placemaking Lab is exploring how we can collect real-time cultural data in the hopes that better and more accurate information can lead to valuable insights on where and how people engage with the arts in 2019.
