Daniels Spectrum is a community cultural hub, developed in partnership by Artscape, Daniels Corporation and Toronto Community Housing as a central feature of the broader revitalization of Regent Park in Toronto. Built in the 1940s as a public housing project, the Regent Park community has struggled with aging infrastructure and a concentration of social issues, including isolation, poverty and crime. By listening and working with these diverse residents, the Daniels Spectrum project aimed to preserve and reflect the vibrant cultural character of the community amidst the significant changes brought on by ongoing revitalization efforts.

“This is the culmination of years of local activism and identification of a need for this kind of a place. And a place not only for the local community to gather and exchange, but also to connect with the larger city and beyond the borders of the city. It is clearly an integral part of the whole revitalization strategy to have this kind of a place.”
